The Center for International Studies is delighted to offer a number of scholarships for students participating in MCPHS international programs. There are three different types of scholarships, and several awards for each will be distributed throughout the fall, winter, spring and summer.

Merit Scholarship
This scholarship is available for MCPHS students who demonstrate academic excellence and commitment to the campus community. Several award winners will receive $250 towards an international program. Merit scholars must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25.

Need-Based Scholarship
Students who demonstrate financial need and are committed to incorporating an international component into their education may be eligible for this scholarship. Several award winners will receive $500 towards an international program.

Ambassador Scholarship
A small number of students will be selected to receive the Ambassador Scholarship, which awards $1,250 towards a service-learning program or clinical rotation. Carefully-chosen Ambassadors will be required to keep a blog about their experiences, and provide advice to future participants in service-learning or clinical rotations abroad at pre-departure orientations and other events.

Directions: Interested students will complete one application, which requires a resume, essay, and some additional information. If applying to the Ambassador Scholarship, a supplemental questionnaire is required, which includes a sample blog post as well as commitment to the Ambassador responsibilities. Students may apply to all three scholarships if desired, but should be aware that they will not be awarded both the Ambassador and Merit-Based scholarships (although may receive the Need-Based scholarship in combination with either one). Applicants must be in good academic and behavioral standing, and all applications will be reviewed to confirm accuracy and eligibility. Final selection will be made by the Center for International Studies.

Deadlines: Students participating in rotations or service-learning programs in the fall semester or winter break must submit scholarship applications by July 15th or September 15th. For students participating in most spring programs, applications must be submitted by November 23rd, and applications for some spring and summer service programs must be submitted by February 15th or April 10th at the latest. You are not required to apply for the deadline affiliated with your program, and due to the limited number of scholarships we encourage you to apply for the earliest deadline possible so that you know your funding award well in advance of your travel. Additionally, you do not need to have applied or been accepted to an international program to apply for these scholarships! If awarded, you will need to use the funding on an approved MCPHS international program during the that academic year.

For information on what programs are available, click here. Please note that at this time only MCPHS service-learning (including Volunteer Morocco and Community Service Peru) and clinical rotations are approved for scholarship funding.
