Study Abroad this Summer in Rabat

Why Rabat?

The capital of the kingdom of Morocco since 1912, Rabat is one of four Moroccan Imperial cities. Home to the first modern university in Morocco – Université Mohammed V, Rabat is a cosmopolitan mix of European modernism and North African and Islamic tradition. Although open to change and modernity, the city values the preservation of its traditional heritage.

What truly distinguishes Rabat is its coastal location and mild weather. The city sits on the Atlantic Ocean overlooking the outlet of the Bouregreg River, which divides the cities of Rabat and Sale. Sale is considered a suburb of Rabat and is well known for its unspoiled medina (old city) and its rich history that can be traced to the Romans. Rabat's unique combination of old and new, paired with its close proximity to beaches and the mountains, make it a great place to live and study.

Rabat Summer Program
Rabat offers visitors exciting activities year-round. In July, Moroccans celebrate their culture during the Festival of Rabat. The entire month is devoted to art, music, and movies. Artists across Africa and around the world travel to Rabat to attend the festival of the city's cultural heritage.

The Rabat Summer Program is designed for students interested in gaining or improving Arabic Language skills and offers courses at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced level in Modern Standard Arabic. Elective courses allow students to focus on the social, cultural, political, and religious traditions of North Africa from an historical and contemporary perspective. An additional elective course gives students the opportunity to study Colloquial Moroccan Arabic.
