Australian Controversies Program - 6 weeks

Why Melbourne?
Located in the southeastern corner of Australia, Melbourne is the capital of Victoria and Australia's second largest city. With more than three million people, Melbourne is known for its exciting cultural life, passion for sports, beautiful parks, nearby beaches, and charming Victorian neighborhoods. The city's mild climate encourages outdoor activities like cycling, rollerblading, and tennis year-round.

The IES Abroad Melbourne Summer Australian Controversies Program
The IES Abroad Melbourne program is organized by the Australian Centre of the University of Melbourne, which is known as a leader in research and interdisciplinary teaching and has received national and international recognition for its work in developing Australian Studies.

The IES Abroad Melbourne Summer Australian Controversies program is designed to introduce you to the historical, cultural, and political life of Australia through enrollment in two courses.

Politics Society and Identity in Australia (required), which includes a three-day field trip to sites such as the historic town of Ballarat, a major national park, or the Great Ocean Road
Australia's Controversies , Conflicts, and Debates , which includes a four-day field trip to Canberra and Sydney

Additional Exciting Program Aspects

Travel to other areas of Australia during your three-day orientation
Live in fully-furnished student apartments
